Overview of Ganesh Himal Trekking

The Ganesh Himal Trek area is in the central-eastern region of Nepal. This region offers spectacular views, untouched natural splendor, wild and friendly residents. The Name of Mount Ganesh Himal is named after the elephant-headed god. The Ganesh Himal can be seen from the Kathmandu valley. It is the first chance in the Himalayas that forms the horizon. This huge Himalayan massif is located between the valleys. It established Budhi Gandaki in the west and Bhotekoshi in the east. As a result, it becomes Trishuli Khola at the bottom.

There are three main groups of peaks between Kathmandu and Pokhara, such as Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu, including Mount Annapurna. This hike is ideal for those who want to escape the most popular regions of Annapurna and Everest. It is famous for its untouched Tamang culture, the spectacular view of the mountains, and the colorful rhododendron forest. Ganesh Himal Trek is conveniently located near Kathmandu.

During the Ganesh Himal trip, you will observe the different ways of lifestyle, culture, and connect with the rural population in small towns. On the way to the trekking time, you will get to know the lifestyle of this rural population in Nepal. You will also get a milestone and a kind of wooden machine for throwing rice, millet, and corn, the vital glamour of the village. In Sing-la-Pass you cross 4400 m above sea level, which offers an exceptional view of the Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Manaslu and Annapurna massif of the Himalayan series. Not so many tourists are the specialty of this region. You may not be able to see foreigners, not even modern Nepalese other than locals

Today, after having breakfast, we start our trek from Syabrubesi, and out ending point is Gatlang. We follow the path to Bahun Dada and then to the settlement of the village of Tamang in Gatlang. Parvati Kunda is located directly above Gatlang and attracts many tourists during Janai Purnima. From the Parvati Kunda viewpoint, we have an excellent view of the region. A cultural show welcomes us in the village of Golijung and Gatlang. We spend the night in Gatlang.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

On the third day of our journey, we continue our trek from Gatlang to Somdang. The path leads along a gravel road and then through rhododendron forests to Yuri Kharka. The forest trail continues to Khurpu Bhanjyang before descending into the Somdang River. The Somdang River separates the Rasuwa district from Dhading.

On the way, we see the beautiful Langtang Mountains, Ganesh Himal, Jugal Himal, Paldor Peak, and many other mountains.

You can also get to know the culture, heritage, and traditions of the Tamang people. The path then leads through the beautiful Chukarma waterfall. We spend the night in Somdang

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We leave Somdang very early, cross the forest and observe the Langtang mountain ranges. The hike leads smoothly through the villages, forests, and trees of cultivated communities. You arrive at a vast green meadow from the Pangsang Pass, which offers a beautiful view to the southwest of Somdang, and you can see Manaslu Peak and Ganesh Himal to the north.

The Ganesh Himal region is known for its herb flora and fauna. The area used to be a route for traders who traded herbs for cattle and salt. The Pangsang Pass offers a breathtaking 270-degree view of the Mount Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna range, and other smaller peaks. We spend the night at camp.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

On the 5th day, the trail descends to the Tipling village. Tipling is a large settlement with two Buddhist gumpas and two churches. The path then climbs to the pass of the bamboo, pine and rhododendron forests. You will also see some pristine waterfalls, gomba, and cremation field with many Buddhist flags in the Jungle.

The primary residents of the region are the Tamang. The Tamang has a rich heritage and culture. You can experience shaman dance, which is an exclusive mixture of Hindu and Buddhist spiritual practices.

After further descending and crossing the Adha Khola River, we reach the village of Shertung and Chalisa. Shertung means a gold place in the Tamang language. After a steep descent and crossing the Gorkhen Khola suspension bridge, we make the last ascent to Shertung Chalisa.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After breakfast, we need 30 minutes to walk down to Chalisa. Chalish Village is a hospitality village where Gurung and Dalit live together. The walk continues to Tatopani, where you can bathe in the hot springs and have lunch.

After lunch, we go uphill towards the Tamang village of Neber. From Neber, you can see the Ganesh Himal in the foreground. Homestays are possible in the city.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

You can continue exploring the Tatopani and relax in the hot springs. The path then follows the stone steps built by the British Gurkhas in Nepal and with the help of Kadoorie Agri. They have also developed several water taps, bridges, and improved paths; we pass the tire to reach the villages of Rachyat and Kapur. After a walk of about 4-5 hours, we reached the village of Kupchyat. We stayed in a camp or tea house to spend the night.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After an early breakfast, we hike to the Timla Pass (3820 m) after a hike of approx. 2 hours. You can see the Langtang Range and Annapurna Range while walking through the alpine rhododendron forests. The path is not marked correctly.

The path then leads down a slippery path towards Gaon Lapchat. After crossing Lapchat Khola on a box bridge, we reached the large village of Lapa Gaon. Lapa Gaon is a Tamang settlement which was developed with many ongoing infrastructure developments. You can stay in the local Tamang houses.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We start the hike passing through Ankhu Khola. The Ankhu Khola is a small pristine river that flows water directly from the pristine Himalayas. The trek continues on a climb from Borang village. After having lunch in Borang, we continue our walkthrough Ukhum.

The path then leads into the Lishne forest, crosses a suspension bridge, and leads through the village. After a long walk of about 5-6 hours, you will reach another Tamang village, Jharlang, also called Ungul. The village is no different and offers a wide range of views of the snow-capped mountains.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

We go to the Jharlang landslide, where the crossing takes about an hour. Landslides are frequent in the area. Therefore, the path should be carefully crossed with the help of a local guide. We continue downhill towards the hungry Khola, where we cross a suspension bridge and climb up to the village of Kuri.

There are no shops between the villages, so snacks and protein bars should be brought along with water for hydration. We walk through dense forests and cross the community and finally reach our destination in Khaniyabas village. The village has many tea shops and guest houses for travelers. You can see the breathtaking sunset view with the unspoiled mountains in the background.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

After breakfast, we go an hour to Thamu Khola and then climb another two and a half hours to Kimdang village. After lunch in Kimdang, we go to the top of the Megang Danda. The Megang Danda has a jungle at the top of the hill, and you should be careful about encountering a wild animal. Megang Danda offers panoramic mountain views for the last time before returning to Kathmandu. We spend the night in Megang Danda.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Our trek goes back to the Trishuli Bazaar on a scenic six-hour descent. Then we drive to Kathmandu.

Meals Included: Breakfast and lunch

After breakfast, we start our guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Patan and Bhaktapur. Patan Durbar Square is rich in architecture and ancient arts. We also visit Bhaktapur, an irresistible city with an authentic local lifestyle that has been preserved through centuries of isolation from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. While we're in the town square, we can admire the Nyata Pola Temple, the Golden Gate, the water pipes, and the 55 Window Palace, which together offer a magical open-air theatre atmosphere for visitors. After visiting these places, you will back to the hotel.

Depending on the departure time, you will pick up by our office representative, and our vehicle takes you to the airport.

Enjoyable Trek with helpful Guide and friendly porter

I have traveled to Nepal twice and on both occasions received invaluable service and assistance from the staff of Nepal Tour & Trekking Service P. Ltd. Mr. Ganesh was a responsible and very professional person. The first time I walked on Annapurna and the second time was in Mount Ganesh Himal. Both trips were incredible, and I was able to see breathtaking scenery and wonderful people.

I strongly recommend those who plan to organize a trip to Nepal, to count on the wonderful service of this friend; excellent camping facilities. You will not regret it.
